Round Three Predictions

I’ve been pretty brutal so far in my predictions, but then sports are more interesting when they turn out like you expect.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Pittsburgh in 6
My Pens are a good, solid young team and they’ve looked pretty hot in the first two rounds. They’ve got a lot of talent up front and an extremely talented goal-tender and I think they’re ready to go back to the big dance. The Canes looked good in their first two rounds, but I just don’t think they’re as good as the Pens. The Canes will give it a bit of a fight, but the Pens will win this one in six.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Detroit in 7
An original six match-up, this is a dream play-off series for sure and I’m sure it’ll be a great one. The Blackhawks have been super-motivated, but the Red Wings are such a machine. I suspect that means we’re in for a long, hard series with both teams giving it all they’ve got which is what you want out of a conference final. However, in the end, I think the Red Wings are just too good to be beat and they’ll emerge the victor, but the Hawks will make them work for it.

As much as I think the Blackhawks and the Hurricanes are good teams, I’m predicting we’re going to see a repeat of last year in the Stanley Cup final, that once again Detroit and Pittsburgh will battle to see if age and experience can once again overcome youth and passion.

  1. pretty good predictions but im going to take Detroit in 7 and Carolina in 6. like you said detroit has way more expierience than chicago. and in the other conference, carolina will win. they have a talented offense and a scrappy defense lead by a stanley cup goalie by the name of Cam Ward. i expect Ward to play well and to beat Malkin, Gonchar, Guerin, and that other well known superstar
