Series Thoughts: Pens vs. Canes

I predicted that the Pens would win this series and they did. I thought six games, but apparently I underestimated the boys in black and gold. It was a clean sweep of Carolina and a well-played series by the Pens.

The Pens looked like the better team throughout the series, easily keeping Carolina in check. The Canes looked good in the first two rounds, but they were out-matched and out-played by the Pens, who are probably the most talented young team in the league. The Canes fought hard, but they couldn’t find a way to shut down Pittsburgh offense or manage to overwhelm Marc-Andre Fleury.

Pittsburgh’s combination of good goal-tending and great offense helped them bolt past the Canes into the Stanley Cup final.
